Dr. Thom E. Lobe
MD, FACS
Dr. Thom E. Lobe is an internationally recognized pediatric surgeon and pioneer in minimally invasive surgery, regenerative medicine, and advanced wound healing. A Professor of Clinical Surgery at the University of Illinois–Chicago, he has spent more than four decades advancing pediatric surgical innovation, cancer care, metabolic therapies, and robotic surgery. He developed one of the earliest pediatric laser-therapy programs and has made significant contributions to nutrition, metabolism, hormone therapy, skin regeneration, and immune-modulated healing.
Dr. Lobe completed his training at The George Washington University, University of Maryland School of Medicine, Johns Hopkins, the University of Pennsylvania, Harvard, The Ohio State University Hospitals, and Nationwide Children’s Hospital. He has held major leadership roles including Chief of Service at the University of Texas Medical Branch, founder of the first pediatric surgery residency in the Mid-South at the University of Tennessee, and Chief of Pediatric Surgery at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. With more than 250 publications and multiple international lifetime achievement awards, Dr. Lobe continues to shape global regenerative medicine and pediatric surgical practice through research, education, and clinical innovation.
